Rhys Byfield is a director, animator and designer with a bold and graphic cinematic approach to his work. Based in London, he has previously worked with CARTOON NETWORK, NICKELODEON, CBBC, PASSION PICTURES, and STUDIO AKA, among others.

 

Rhys started his career as an animator working on Bafta and Emmy award-winning show HEY DUGGEE, before leaving to pursue a career as a freelance animator and director. In 2016 he began work on the short film THEY HUNT. To make the 12-minute endeavour Rhys put together a team of like-minded artists and in October 2019 the film premiered at the CURZON to over a hundred guests. THEY HUNT went on to tour the festival circuit winning a number of awards and nominations. Since then Rhys has worked for CARTOON NETWORK on their show ELLIOTT FROM EARTH as an Episode director, THE GUMBALL CHRONICLES as an Animation director and continues to develop original content for film and television.

Rhys creates his work using Adobe Animate, Premiere, After Effects, Cinema 4D and Photoshop.
